David Marion, Managing Director, is responsible for business strategy, global asset allocation and client relations.
David joined First Santa Fe Advisors in June 2011 from JP Morgan, where he spent 18 years in both Chicago and New York. While at JP Morgan, David worked at both the Investment Bank where he specialized in covering large institutional investors for alternative credit assets, and in Private Wealth Management where he managed client relationships and advised on asset allocation and balance sheet solutions. Prior to joining JP Morgan in 1993, David was employed at Daiwa Securities America and Security Pacific Bank.
David has a BS in Finance from Texas A&M University and an MBA from Pepperdine University. He is also a CFA Charterholder.
Kristina Alley, Managing Director, is responsible for client relationship management, compliance, operations and finance.
Prior to returning to her native New Mexico in 2008, Kristina spent ten years with U.S. Trust Company of New York working as an investment and relationship manager. She managed over $250 million for high net worth private clients including retirement, fiduciary and charitable entities. Kristina built solutions for clients addressing illiquid assets, closely held businesses, tax sensitivities, charitable goals and life events such as marriage. Previously, she worked as an institutional relationship manager for U.S. Trust's proprietary mutual fund company, Excelsior Funds and as a customer service manager for Davis Selected Advisors, a mutual fund company.
Kristina earned a master's degree in business administration from Fordham University in New York, NY with a concentration in Management. She received a BA in Spanish Literature from Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, PA. She has also traveled extensively and speaks Spanish and Swedish fluently.
David Kantor, Managing Director, is responsible for client relationship management, determination of investment policy, asset allocation and the analysis of potential investments and investment managers.
Prior to joining the Bank in 2010, David spent 13 years with Prudent Management Associates, a wealth management firm with approximately $800 million in assets under management, where he was a partner and ran the firm's Washington, DC office. At PMA, David led the firm's qualitative analysis of investment managers, in addition to having client development, relationship management, and portfolio management responsibilities.
Previously, David spent 9 years as a founding partner and principal in Cambridge International Partners, Inc., a New York investment banking boutique specializing in merger and acquisition transactions in the investment management industry. David has also been a consultant to institutional investment management firms and to the savings and loan industry, after beginning his career with the First National Bank of Boston.
David received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a dual major in Finance and Strategic Planning and his B.A. from Harvard College with a concentration in Economics.
Kristin Varela, Investment Analyst, is responsible for maintaining investment research and client reporting.
Prior to joining First Santa Fe Advisors, Kristin was a Trust Securities Specialist at First National Bank of Santa Fe. She graduated from Cannon Financial Institute Securities Operations School in May of 2010. She is designated as a Certified Securities Operations Professional (CSOP) through the Institute of Certified Bankers. Kristin is currently a student at New Mexico Highlands University, completing her B.A. in Business Finance.
Nicholas Plazola, Investment Analyst, is responsible for investment research and marketing support.
He received his MBA in May, 2011 with a concentration in accounting. In December 2009 he completed his Bachelors of Business Administration, concentrating in Finance and graduating summa cum laude. Both degrees were awarded from the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico. During his graduate level studies he served in various volunteer capacities on behalf of Anderson as well as working for and teaching courses in the Finance department.
Danan Kirby, Investment Analyst, is responsible for investment research and client support.
Prior to joining First Santa Fe Advisors, Danan worked at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as a Financial Institution Specialist. Before joining the FDIC, he served in the United States Army Cavalry specializing in strategic combat operations. In May 2011 he completed his Bachelors of Business Administration, concentrating in Finance and graduating summa cum laude. His degree was awarded from the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico. During his studies he served as a student portfolio manager, managing over $7 million dollars for the Anderson's Regents Portfolio.
Lesley Adams, the Client Relations Associate at First Santa Fe Advisors, is responsible for overall administrative account relations. She also supports the Operations Manager and Chief Compliance Officer in the areas of finance and compliance.
Prior to joining First Santa Fe Advisors, she worked for three years as a Personal Banking Representative at the First National Bank of Santa Fe and IronStone Bank. Previously, Lesley spent 25 years in mortgage and commercial lending at Los Alamos National Bank, First Community Bank, Bankers Mutual and Washington Mutual. Lesley is a true "people person" who enjoys forming long term client relationships and delivering exceptional customer service.
Lesley has a great deal of community service experience and serves as Board Secretary for Assistance Dogs of the West, a non-profit organization that provides trained service dogs to people with disabilities in order to increase self-reliance and independance.
Sara Hume, Operations Manager, is responsible for overall administrative account relations and has primary responsibilty for operations. She also supports the Chief Compliance Officer in the areas of finance and compliance.
Before she joined First Santa Fe Advisors, Sara spent seven years with Santa Fe Trust, Inc, an independent trust company, where she began as a Trust Administrative Assistant. After moving into project management, Sara was promoted to AVP, Support Services Manager, and was tasked with oversight of Administrative Support and Trust Operations.
Sara has attended trust administration and securities operations courses at Cannon Financial Institute. Prior to working in the financial industry, Sara worked with her husband running Chicoma Builders, a high-end residential custom design and construction company in the Santa Fe area. She also co-managed Chicoma Restoration, a water damage restoration business which she recalls as some of the most rewarding work she's ever done.
